I first met Andy at Whitby Folk Festival in the early 1990s at a Rapper dance workshop along with other Iffy Morris friends. What a wonderful chance meeting it turned out to be, and changed my life forever. Deep friendships were formed and I became involved with traditional dance and folk music thanks to their encouragement and sense of fun. Whitby Folk Festival continued to be an important part of our lives and I have many happy memories of concerts that Andy and I attended together. Martin Carthy, Pete Morton, Vin Garbutt Sid Kipper and especially the late night extras at the Metropole when the Wilsons featured. Whitby Folk week will not be the same without him.
